The Netherlands has a rich history of children’s book authors and illustrators. Join Dutch author and artist Mylo Freeman as she reads from her Princess Arabella series and demonstrates painting in color. Plus, a screening of the charming Dutch-Flemish short, Mr. Paper Goes Out for a Walk. Presented in partnership with Never Grow Up! a presentation of Dutch film, literature and performing arts for young audiences in the United States, and with the New York International Children's Film Festival.

Heroes and Myths From Around the World (video intro by Rick Riordan)

Hear and meet authors from the popular Rick Riordan Presents series as they talk with Susannah Richards about myths, the supernatural, and a new generation of diverse heroes. In The Storm Runner by J.C. Cervantes, Zane finds a gateway to another world—and learns his destiny involves the Mayan god of death, Ah-Puch. Hindu mythology comes to life in Roshani Chokshi’s Aru Shah and the End of Time, when 12-year-old Aru Shah learns she is the reincarnation of a Pandava, or demigod. In Carlos Hernandez’s Sal and Gabi Break the Universe, Cuban folklore gets a sci-fi twist on the streets of Miami. Each of these young heroes finds power in their vibrant cultural backgrounds.
