Brooklyn Book Festival Virtual Marketplace

Dear Booksellers and Publishers,

The 2020 Brooklyn Book Festival and Marketplace will be held virtually this year. After much deliberation, our staff and board reached this decision with an eye to safety for our booksellers, audience and staff.

Although we cannot present a physical festival, we did want to let you know of the opportunity to participate in our virtual Marketplace. We are redesigning the BKBF website to allow us to better showcase publishers, authors and literary organizations. If you would like to participate you would be promoted on the BKBF website for 2 months leading up to and after the Festival. We will be promoting the festival through advertising, social media, eblasts and our partners. The virtual format does allow us to reach a larger national and international audience that we hope to expose to your authors and books.

We encourage you to use this opportunity to create an incentive for people to purchase from your site — a discount code such as BKBF,  offering pre-signed books, etc. Many of you have participated in the Festival for years and we do hope this might help your business during this challenging time.

We will present our Festival curated author programming this year from September 28 – October 5 via zoom and live stream as well as having some pre recorded events.  Although we are disappointed to not have a physical Festival with its spirit of community celebration, we are looking for the positives in this change as well.
