Three Bites, One Big Apple: NYC in Comics

Locals and tourists alike can agree that New York City is a metropolis of multitudes and that therein lies its enduring allure. In Katie FricasChecked Out, a library worker oscillates between retail heartbreak and archival excitement as she dates around town while writing a story of heroic WWI carrier pigeons. Elsewhere, writers become detectives, detectives observe writers, and men lost to their families avoid being found in the oblique adaptation of Paul Auster’s New York Trilogy, illustrated by panelist Paul Karasik and two other spectacular artists. And Kay Sohini, who grew up on NYC narratives in Kolkata, India, finds her true home in the metropolis that saved her from grief and heartbreak. Join moderator Camilla Zhang and catch a glimpse of NYC’s chaotic beauty through the eyes of these wonderful artists.
