In this high-wattage panel discussion celebrating the new Library of America anthology Latino Poetry, anthology editor Rigoberto González and contributors Yesenia Montilla and Darrel Alejandro Holnes will discuss the political and poetic geographies of Latino identity and culture in and beyond New York and how these relate to their own work and trajectory. They will address the relationship between craft and the social voice as well as questions of race, gender, sexuality, migration, and the many forms of Latino poetry inside and outside the academy. Moderated by anthology advisor and contributor Urayoán Noel. Co-presented with The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Education Center as part of Historias, a multi-year initiative celebrating the transformative impact of Latinx communities in New York City.
