Victoria Johnson is Associate Professor of Urban Policy and Planning at Hunter College of the City University of New York, where she teaches on philanthropy, nonprofits, and the history of New York City. She has been a Fellow of the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library and a Mellon Visiting Scholar at the New York Botanical Garden. Her most recent book, American Eden: David Hosack, Botany, and Medicine in the Garden of the Early Republic, won the 2018 John Brinkerhoff Jackson Prize from the Foundation for Landscape Studies, was chosen as a New York Times Notable Book of 2018, was a finalist for the 2018 National Book Award in Nonfiction, and the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in History.
