Vallery Lomas is a Louisiana born-and-raised, self-taught home cook and baker, now residing in Harlem. She started her blog, Foodie In New York, in 2010 during her final year of law school and has been developing and photographing recipes ever since. She worked as an attorney for eight years before quitting her job to pursue a full-time career in food media.
Vallery won The Great American Baking Show in 2015, and her debut cookbook, Life Is What You Bake It, will be published in September 2021. She is a frequent contributor to New York Times Cooking and hosted the Food Network digital show Vallery Bakes Your Questions. She's also been on ABC’s The Chew, TODAY’s Cooking in Pajamas, and the Hallmark Channel's Home and Family in addition to appearing in Better Homes & Gardens, Food & Wine, Food52, BuzzFeed, People, and more.
