Stephen Policoff’s first novel, Beautiful Somewhere Else, won the James Jones Award, and his second novel, Come Away, won the Dzanc Award. His third novel was Dangerous Blues. A retired clinical professor of writing in Liberal Studies at NYU, his latest book, A Ribbon For Your Hair: Loss, More Loss, And How We (Sort of) Went On was published in 2026 (Heliotrope Books). Several pieces were first published in december, Riddlebird, Entropy Literary Journal, and Oyster River Pages. A section on his daughter Anna’s music therapy won the Fish Short Memoir Award, appearing on music therapy websites worldwide.
