Sean Anderson is a Jamaican-American author of Alphabet City Blues, a book set in New York City’s East Village during the turbulent 1980s and 90s. A recipient of the Himan Brown Award and the North Country Writing Fellowship, his fiction and nonfiction have also appeared multiple times in The Killens Review of Arts & Letters. Anderson is also deeply involved in student advocacy and community engagement. He has been recognized as a Human of Henry Street Settlement, an honor acknowledging his impact as an advocate, mentor, and writer as well as the Medgar Evers College Leadership Award and the Jamie Reid Compass Award. Drawing inspiration from New York City’s rich cultural history, Anderson’s work examines the intersection of place, identity, and social change.
