Paolo Giordano is a physicist and the author of four internationally bestselling novels, including The Solitude of Prime Numbers, which has sold over a million copies worldwide. His essay How Contagion Works—published in Italy at the beginning of the coronavirus emergency as The Mathematics of Contagion—was shared more than 4 million times and helped shift public opinion in the early stages of the pandemic.
