Mechele Dickerson is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Middle-Class New Deal: Restoring Upward Mobility and the American Dream. She is a law professor at the University of Texas, with a courtesy appointment at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Professor Dickerson is also the author of Homeownership and America’s Financial Underclass: Flawed Premises, Broken Promises, New Prescriptions. She was born in Memphis but now lives in Austin, Texas.
