Lorraine Currelley

Lorraine Currelley, poet and spoken word performance artist. Most recently named Bronx Beat Poet Laureate State of New York 2020–2022. A multi-genre writer, Pearls of Wisdom storyteller, educator. Widely anthologized. Publications include From the Ancestors: Poems and Prayers for Future Generations, 2020, Split This Rock's Poems of Resistance, Power & Resilience. A multi awards recipient. A curator and visual artist. She has curated exhibits for Mom Egg Review (VOX), Studio Theater in Exile and Hudson Valley MOCA (Climbing the Walls.) She's the Executive Director for Poets Network & Exchange and the Bronx Book Fair.
She has a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling, Certification in Thanatology (grief and bereavement) and a Bachelors in Psychology. She's an activist and advocates for social, cultural, environmental justice and equity. She resides in New York City.
