Raghu Karnad is an author and journalist, and a recipient of a 2019 Windham-Campbell Prize from Yale University. His book, Farthest Field: An Indian Story of the Second World War (2015), won the young writer’s prize from India’s National Academy of Letters in 2016. His reporting and essays have been published in the Guardian, Granta, n+1, the New York Times and online at the New Yorker and the Atlantic. They have won prizes from the European Commission and the Press Institute of India. He is chief of bureau at theWire.in, a progressive news website he helped to found in 2015.
