Karla FC Holloway

Karla FC Holloway is James B. Duke Professor Emerita at Duke University. Her debut novel, A Death in Harlem (TriQuarterly Books, 2019), is a Harlem Renaissance mystery. Gone Missing in Harlem (2021) is a literary fiction about memory, mothering, and resilience set in the midst of the Harlem Renaissance and the Great Depression. Weldon Thomas, New York City’s first “colored” policeman, returns to the scene to solve the mystery of a colored baby whose disappearance fails to attract the kind of attention focused on the Lindbergh kidnapping. BuzzFeed News has described Gone Missing as “unputdownable.”
