Janell Pearson was born and raised in Harlem. The New York Amsterdam News and other media outlets have profiled Janell as a young, successful businesswoman. In 1986, Janell earned an award from the Honorable Dorothy Heights of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). In 1988, Janell received an award from Dorothy Pittman Hughes, another influential community leader. After ten years, Janell transitioned to the corporate sector, where she thrived, working for Fortune 500 companies for 30 years. Janell is now a member of the Harlem Writers Guild, having established her own publishing company, Strength Point Publishing, Inc.
