Eric M. B. Becker is a writer, literary translator, and editor of Words Without Borders. He is the recipient of fellowships and residencies from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fulbright Commission, the Frankfurt Book Fair, and the Louis Armstrong House Museum. Becker has published translations of numerous writers from the Portuguese; in 2014, he earned a PEN/Heim Grant for his translation of short stories by 2015 Man Booker International finalist Mia Couto. His work has appeared in the New York Times, Foreign Affairs, Freeman’s, and Guernica, and elsewhere. He is co-founder and curator of The Pessoa Festival (pessoa-festival.com).
