Emily Flake is a cartoonist, writer, illustrator, performer, and educator living in Brooklyn, NY. She is a frequent contributor to the New Yorker. She is the author of Mama Tried: Dispatches From the Seamy Underbelly of Modern Parenting (Grand Central, 2015) and That Was Awkward: The Art and Etiquette of the Awkward Hug (Viking, 2019). She is at work on a cartooning guide for Andrews McMeel. She is also the founder of St. Nell’s, a writing residency for women and non-binary humorists in Williamsport, PA. She periodically either gets onstage or arranges for other people to get onstage for comedy purposes.
