Elaine Yellow Horse is a born and raised in Wounded Knee, SD, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She received her undergraduate degree from Oglala Lakota College. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota Knudsen School of Law. Elaine has been the tribal law and history professor at Oglala Lakota college for the past three years. Meanwhile, Elaine is wrapping up her debut memoir, The Good Indian, which is under contract with Algonquin publishers. When she isn’t busy with her passion projects, Elaine spends time writing short stories and honing her skills in Olympic style recurve archery.
