Darlene Okpo is the founder and owner of Adanne Bookshop, a Brooklyn-based independent bookstore and cultural hub dedicated to celebrating Black and African diaspora voices. Founded with the belief that “Reading is Healing,” Adanne serves as a sanctuary where literature, wellness, art, and intentional gathering intersect. Darlene, who brings a strong background in education and youth literacy programming, created the space to center identity and storytelling through curated author talks, creative workshops, and community-driven initiatives. It stands as a vital third space for readers, artists, and families to connect and thrive.
