Carolyn Forché

Carolyn Forché is the author of In the Lateness of the World, her fifth collection of poetry, and What You Have Heard Is True: A Memoir of Witness and Resistance, which was short-listed for the National Book Award and won the Juan E. Mendez Book Award for Human Rights in Latin America. She received the Edita and Ira Morris Award in Stockholm in 1996, the Windham-Campbell Prize from Yale University in 2017, and the Academy of American Poets Fellowship in Poetry in 2013. She teaches at Georgetown University and lives in Maryland with her husband, the photographer Harry Mattison.
