Avra Wing

Avra Wing is a novelist and teacher whose debut novel, Angie, was adapted into a feature film starring Geena Davis and James Gandolfini. Her latest book Stride: How I Walked Away From Trauma Toward Healing (Girl Friday Publications, 2026) is a moving memoir of a sudden, life-altering injury. Avra has led writing workshops for people with disabilities since 2009 and is a passionate advocate for creative expression as a path to healing. She has three adult children and lives with her husband and cats in Brooklyn.
